Linda is such a vibrant and amazing person. We met her through the A&C community and she has been an incredible supporter since the beginning! She’s here to open up to all of you:
What’s going well for you right now?
I would say self-care routines and practices. Every morning, I have a routine and every evening I have one too. It grounds me and energizes me physically and mentally. I know the times I need to dedicate myself to planning out the rest of the day and rehashing the day. I use a planner to do so, and it keeps me SO level-headed! I journal and meditate once a day to get my thoughts out and bring in the best inner authentic self to the rest of the world. When I show up, I want to show up, fully present for the people in my life, and that starts by serving myself the best way possible. I put on essential oils, I stretch, I run, and I practice gratitude.
What’s not going so well for you at this moment?
Coming April 2019, I'll have my B.A. in theatre and I'll be fully out of school! I have a huge passion for service and wellness, so I'll find a job somewhere full-time that aligns with those values. I know what I want to do--but will I find the right place to exercise my gifts? There's so many factors to consider--the industry, the environment/pacing of the work, and of course, the work culture among my coworkers. If one of those are off balance, I won't feel fulfilled staying there. That's something kind of scary right now and last night I actually have the most wonderful mental breakdown over it as it hit me (I say wonderful because mental breakdowns are cathartic and release negative energy, creating space for positive ones to fill that space). I eventually want to own my own practice full-time as a wellness coach: lifestyle coaching, personal training/yoga teaching, all the while YouTubing!
What are you currently doing (job/hobbies)?
I currently work as an events coordinator for the farmer's market at my school and at a call center for philanthropy! I love dancing, yoga, nature walks, looking at beautiful homes (I swear if house-shopping could be my hobby it would be MY THING), I love window shopping and two places that are a MUST GO for me in any mall is the tea store and Indigo Chapters. I love journaling as well.
What are your daily habits that help keep you sane?
Meditation, journaling, planning out the week/recording what's done, making lists and crossing things off (soooooo satisfying), and getting in some sort of exercise every single day. I make it a point to always get in some sunshine/outdoor time because that's great for my sleep, and some social event because that keeps me mentally sane. As human creatures, we are wired for connection! I say hello to the barista and everybody on my run every day!
How do you deal with the hard parts of life?
I pray. I breathe. I ask for the power to see my situation with love. I ask for the strength to overcome anything that comes my way (including myself). I turn towards my faith in a higher power to help me move through the difficult path because I know in my heart that what's meant for me will not pass me; and often the hardest mountain will be given for us to climb to truly test if what we want on the other side is indeed, what we want. I often cry a lot during this process!
