Marlie is an energizer bunny who never stops. She is probably the most active person we know and sticks to goals like no other. Just last year she left the start-up world to pursue dance full-time. Let’s hear what she has to say about her both amazing and confusing life:
1. What are you currently doing (job/hobbies)?
I am a dancer; I do lots of music videos, concept videos, live performances, backup dancing, gogo dancing, teach occasionally, auditions, rehearsals, classes, passion projects, etc. I also model, act, and am very into fitness and running.
2. What’s going well in your life?
Well, this is a great question because being more positive and grateful is one of my biggest resolutions for 2019! Some things that are going amazing in my life right now include: I am pursuing my passion for dance and am doing it full time! I am very grateful to even have something that I love to do so much, and that I am financially able to go for my goals without having to make decisions based on money. I am grateful that I have a supportive family that believes in me and supports this endeavour. I am grateful that I’ve already gone to university and have work experience in a lucrative career, so I’ve got a rock-solid backup plan already figured out. I’ve had some really awesome dance opportunities this past year that I previously never thought I would achieve, so I’m really proud of that. Finally, I’m leaving on Feb. 1st, 2019 to LA for 6 months to attend a performing arts program and I am SOO excited for this challenge!
3. What’s not going well (confusing) in your life?
The downside of pursuing my dreams right now, is that I sometimes feel like I’m going to be way behind all of my university friends, who are working real jobs, making lots of money, in long-term relationships and getting apartments. I feel like I’ve lost a bit of my identity since leaving my full-time fancy job, even though I know I wasn’t happy and the grass is definitely always greener; I’m sure a lot of those same people wish they could be pursuing something they love too. It’s confusing because I want to be a dancer but I also want to be a powerful business woman, and though I want to have them at the same time that seems logistically impossible, so I’ll have to settle for putting my business career on hold and trusting that there is enough time in this life to be everyone I want to be!
4. What are your daily habits that help keep you sane?
Exercise, dance, and having coffee in the morning! 😊
